Have you ever been stuck?

Have you had something you’d like to pursue, but just didn’t feel like doing it? Maybe you know there are people, habits, and things that are weighing you down, but how do you let go? Ignoring things doesn’t work.

We are like a beautiful garden. Different areas of our lives require different care as we move through the seasons. A fern will croak in a hurry if it’s planted in the sun. A sun-driven rose will languish and get moldy in the shade. Different plants require different soils and levels of hydration to flourish. Different aspects of our being require different kinds of care, as well.

We have a physical side to us that requires a balance of rest and challenge. Our thinking self requires new ideas and information. Our bushel basket of emotions requires attention and direction. Our spiritual/intuitive side requires peace and purpose.

If we ignore the brain, we run around like zombies. If we ignore the emotions, we act like robots. If we ignore the physical, we feel like we are walking through sludge. If we ignore the spiritual/intuitive self, we move aimlessly. Ignore them all, and we get stuck in autopilot without really enjoying life.

So, how does one unstick themselves? Look at each aspect of the self with a unique, caring perspective. Then, look at how each aspect relates to the others. Finally, look at all of this in relation to the season necessary for growth.

What does that mean? Okay, let me break it down: winter, summer, spring, fall. Sometimes, our lives take us into a season when we just have to stop, rest, and take stock of what’s going on. This relates to winter. Other times, we muster the energy to plant the seeds of a new venture or new idea — an inner spring. Summer grants us the energy to do the hard work required to get that new idea off the ground. Sometimes we require courageous moments when we let go of what no longer serves us, like the falling leaves of autumn.

What if our emotions are in fall — letting go of old pain — while the brain is in full spring — coming up with new ideas — but the body is in winter, because we’ve pushed too hard for too long. At the same time, what if the spiritual/intuitive self activates into the summer mode of abundance and dreams for more. Whew! It’s exhausting just to read about it.

What if we could get all these aspects on the same page, or at least get to a place where we honor each one?

We can! It all starts with the spiritual/intuitive self that requires purpose. Maybe that purpose has been dormant for a while (winter). With a clear purpose at hand, the mind can cultivate the seeds (spring), the body can take the next step to reap the benefits (summer), and the emotions can support the process of letting go of what isn’t working, and thriving on what does serve this purpose (fall).

If you live and breathe, you hold a purpose within your spiritual/intuitive self. If you’re not happy, you just haven’t found it yet, or you’ve pushed your purpose aside to make others happy. While sometimes that’s necessary, finding and reclaiming one’s purpose yields powerful results for growing into the brightest and happiest person one can be.

Take time to breathe and ponder. Often our purpose reveals itself in the things that irritate us the most because we came to change things! Sometimes our purpose reveals itself in the things we enjoy the most. Sometimes our purpose resides on both sides of that coin.

For me, it irritated me that faith rejected intuition and intuitive leaders held no room for faith. I loved both my faith and my intuition. As a result, my husband Phil and I created The Divine Fellowship that honors both faith and intuition, interwoven as a sacred path. My husband Phil found himself profoundly irritated with people who make uninformed decisions. He also loved diving deep into the rabbit hole of information. So, he created a unique insurance business for himself where he could help people make life decisions based on accurate information. He is now retired and finds himself tunneling down the rabbit hole of learning about old radios, model trains, and other hobbies. His purpose shifted, yet he moves purposefully every day.

Whether your purpose eludes you, has been stifled, or is in shift right now, you might want to join us for an upcoming workshop on May 9 — Tending the Garden of Your Heart — where we will offer techniques, processes, and procedures for growing into your true purpose.
