About the cover:
“HE’S GOT THE WHOLE WORLD IN HIS HANDS.”by Joel Nunn-Sparks

This month's cover art is by Joel Nunn-Sparks, who has graced the cover of our February issue for the past several years now. This piece is one of many that will be in Joel’s upcoming exhibition at Café Con Arte, February 13–March 13: EASTSIDE TEMPORALITIES: a story of change, memory & metamorphosis in East Pasco.

Joel Nunn-Sparks is partnering with the Hanford History Project to explore East Pasco’s African-American history — from the 1940s through urban renewal — through art, photos, oral histories, artifacts, and more.
Come see, share, and be part of the story.

I also want to share what I wrote in this issue, because I know that so many of us are horrified by the killings taking place in our country right now.
From the Editor:
Crying in rage and disgust that people only seemed to care once ICE killed a white woman, my friend (who is undocumented) said: “Don’t be upset. At least they’re paying attention now.”
That statement completely laid bare our culture’s fickle inability to see anything that doesn’t affect them directly. It also shamed me — that I had been putting my own sense of justice before the increased safety that might result from these protests.
“At least they’re paying attention now.”

If you're not completely oversaturated, listen to this episode of Assembly Required:

I often wonder how so many Christians seem to be implicitly (and sometimes explicitly) supportive of a regime that is committing atrocities — deporting Christians to countries that famously persecute them, imprison them, and worse; dismantling human rights; and continuing to avoid consequences for a staggering number of crimes. Stacey Abrams addresses her fellow Christians in this episode of Assembly Required, and it is very impactful.

On a lighter note (any note would be lighter), I dropped a little teaser about our upcoming project: https://www.patreon.com/posts/update-149205405
