Happy spring! With the equinox behind us, we are officially in a new season, and what better way to greet this opportunity for new beginnings than with a pick-a-card reading?
For this one, the question I focused on was “What seeds do you need to plant?” so we can all focus our attention on what we need to bring into this new growing season. As always, take a few deep breaths and see which section you are drawn to, whether it just be the corresponding image you are gravitating towards or if you find yourself reading one section in particular. The options for this are endless! See what you pick and take what resonates.

CARD ONE
If you are drawn to this first message, the card that came forward for you is the Nine of Swords. The Nine of Swords is known to be a bit of a difficult card, representing loss, grief, stress, and frustration. The figure has lost sleep and is deep in a stressful situation, they are in no position to be taking large steps right now. This card is a huge call to prioritize healing and to take a step away from toxic and agonizing situations.
As a seed that needs planting, the presence of this card likely means that the main focus for this season is to prioritize ambitions that fuel your self-care first. You have been trying to ‘do it all’ for too long, and need some sustainable systems in place to help you recover. This means more than just rest; you need to rest and plan for more rest. What things (big or small) bring you a little more energy/hope/support? For now, if it comes down to getting more things checked off of your list or taking some time to build up your support and prioritize yourself, choose the latter. You are going to burn out severely if you don’t slow down. Remember, these are the seeds of new systems, so don’t get caught up in planning the ‘perfect’ (but exhausting) care routine that you can’t sustain right away. Take small steps that you can nurture!

CARD TWO
If card two caught your attention, the message for you comes from the Seven of Swords. This is a card of strategy, secrecy, and outsmarting the ‘competition’ or challenge. The figure in traditional art is often depicted sneaking into an enemy camp to steal their swords before the next battle in the morning. In other contexts, this could be a card representing shady behavior and deceit; but in this context, we are asking what seeds you need to be nurturing at this time, so the meaning shifts a little.
You need to plant seeds of strategy and vision turned towards the long game. This message calls on us to stop thinking of the next quick thing to do and to start thinking of the bigger picture and what strategies are necessary for it. The secrecy side of this card also reminds us that some things you are working on may need to be kept close and quiet for a time until you are in a position less likely to be undermined by outside forces. This is not a negative card when representing a seed to a plant; it is a call to be flexible and strategic without becoming too vulnerable. Your specific challenges require you to outsmart them instead of throwing your energy to the wind. There will be a time for boldness, but you have to collect your resources first, and you may need to wait until you have more information before acting. Seeds of patience and wit would be good ones to plant at this time.

CARD THREE
Temperance is our final card. This is a message of restraint, balance, working in harmony with forces that contradict each other, and being in a flow state. The figure often has one foot in the water and one on the shore, representing their connection to two different energies that work in harmony. The figure blends water from cup to cup, allowing the energies to flow and create in the way they both do best. These energies are unique and unlike each other, but both are blended in such a way that it makes things work.
Now is the time to call upon any ability that you have to work with nuance. Things will not be so clear cut or black and white right now; you will need to find the space to hold multiple truths at once. You will be surrounded by things that seem to be a contradiction, but they have a common thread that unites them. Avoid extremes at this time and plant the seeds of moderation and balance in your life. This is a major arcana card, so your reading is particularly bold and this message will likely be needed in multiple areas of your life. Do not be surprised if this call for balance pops up again and again! Keep working with the flow and not against it, and you will be amazed at what you accomplish and how you grow.
