Here’s why it matters.

We’ve got our very own ‘Month’ coming up in November! National Hospice and Palliative Care Month is a time to celebrate the incredible people who make hospice care possible, and the difference this care makes for families throughout Benton and Franklin Counties.

At Tri-Cities Chaplaincy, we see every day how powerful hospice care can be. It’s not just about managing medical needs — it’s about caring for the whole person. Every patient is supported by a full team: a nurse, social worker, chaplain, physician, certified nursing assistant, and trained volunteers. Together, they ensure that a person’s physical comfort, emotional needs, and spiritual wellbeing are taken care of.

The people who work in hospice are special.

It takes a rare heart to do what they do — to offer comfort during one of life’s most challenging times. They show up for patients and families with steady hands, listening ears, and empathetic hearts. Their compassion doesn’t just make a difference — it is the difference.

We hear it from families all the time: “We wish we had called sooner.”

Many tell us how our staff have become like family, helping their loved ones feel seen, supported, and peaceful. They share stories about nurses who went the extra mile, chaplains who listened when words were hard to find, and quiet moments in our Hospice House that they’ll never forget. Those stories remind us why this work matters.

Did you know you are entitled to receive hospice care?

Hospice care benefits cover far more than many people realize — including medications, medical equipment, and a care team focused on comfort and quality of life. It’s available through Medicare, Medicaid, and most private insurance to anyone with a life expectancy of six months or less, as determined by a physician.

The earlier hospice care begins, the more support families receive — perhaps months, rather than days. Those extra weeks often mean more time spent together in comfort, granting the ability to create more meaningful moments.

We can’t do this without our community!

Every donation, volunteer hour, and partnership helps us continue to serve local families — whether or not they are able to pay. When you support Tri-Cities Chaplaincy, you’re helping ensure that everyone in our community can find comfort, dignity, and peace at the end of life.

So, this November, as we celebrate National Hospice and Palliative Care Month, we invite you to join us. Take a moment to thank someone who works in hospice care. Learn more about the hospice benefit. Share your story. And if you ever find yourself wondering what hospice can do for you or someone you love, reach out. We’re here to help you live your best life, all the way to the end.
