Artwork by Brittany Torres
Are you ready to get your geek on? Because RadCon is coming!
Created in 1990 with a literary focus as a place for high school students to share their work, RadCon is now a popular annual science-fiction convention. This year, RadCon is celebrating 35 years of convention life!
RadCon has become known as ‘the big con with the small con feel’, and hosts honored guests across a variety of fields. This year’s guests of honor are artist Brittany Torres, publisher Bob Brown (B-Cubed Press), and author David Gerrold. Returning special guests include artist Yoshi Vu, actor Isaac Singleton Jr, and artist Jeff Sturgeon. All of these guests will give keynote addresses, and participate in panels.
This year, Brittany Torres has honored RadCon with gorgeous artwork based on our theme: Aliens!
There will be a limited run of T-shirts and program books featuring her work, available for purchase only at the event. She will also be featured in the annual art show the entire weekend, which offers a rare opportunity for attendees to access artwork from all across the Pacific Northwest.
Beginning with the opening ceremony on Friday evening, there will be over 230 hours of programming content on offer — panels, performances, and presentations!
Saturday is the biggest day, with the widest variety of entertainment. You can show off your creativity at the Masquerade, or share a cup of tea and some local pastries with The Pirates of the High Teas. At the end of the day, check out a Fractal Phase fire show in the courtyard, then round it out with a dance party, which will go on into the wee hours of the morning!
There is a huge selection of vendors, offering everything from event swag to art, costume pieces, and jewelry. Everyone can find something special to memorialize the weekend. The Dealers Room, Vendors Annex, and Artist Alley all offer a wide range of merchandise from unique and talented creators. And, as always, the gaming room will be offering a wide variety of role playing games, including popular favorites like Magic the Gathering and Pathfinder.
This is not just an event for the grown-ups; we’ve got the whole family covered. Kid-Con has activities for children aged 5 – 11, and Con-TEEN-a is a space for youth aged 12 – 18.
So get out your masks and capes, or just show up as yourself and enjoy the spectacle! We look forward to seeing you there!
