Ever heard of a BioBlitz?
Columbia Basin WA Native Plant Society
Perfect for all outdoor enthusiasts, a BioBlitz is a short-term community science event where scientists and volunteers work together to identify the species of plants, animals, and other organisms that live in a place — as many as possible.
April 13, 1 – 3pm
In celebration of Native Plant Appreciation Month, we’ll get to know the Wallula Gap Preserve, a new Tri-Cities recreation area! Join experts from Benton Conservation District, Columbia Basin Native Plant Society, and Benton County Parks to learn about biodiversity firsthand by exploring, observing, and counting the species that live there. The data collected will be included in an environmental assessment.
Never participated in a BioBlitz before? Or used iNaturalist?
No worries!
The Native Plant Appreciation Month committee will offer an online iNaturalist workshop. We will have experts at our event to help you and guide you.
We welcome everyone from all backgrounds, experience, or enthusiasm to join us to celebrate and engage in community science.
