Sporogenesis / Rae Galloway
After leaving healthcare, I picked up a watercolor palette for the first time on July 17th, 2022 I love it, turns out I'm pretty good at it, and I've painted every single day since then. My Linktree is https://linktr.ee/raegalloway
BRIEFLY DESERT AUTUMN
a beautiful day!
the cyclones on Garfield Street
whisking leaves away.

SAME AS IT EVER WAS
Sitting slipping sleeping nodding away again
From circles my pain has spiraled
The ones that start and finish.
Within me, slipping sleeping through sludge.
BUT THAT ISN’T ME
Being in the stations and the forests
Honest guilt at 18, in my own transport
On my own dance
My fire could have caught and burned me faster.
Instead I've been burning for years
Why did I choose to break this way?
It’s true the world is ending

Crucifixes of Beit Sahour
The serenity I know
resides in my bones.
I learned this through the most submissive actions.
In the hand that greets,
the foot that stands,
and the shoulder that carries.
Tell it like a story
or an anecdote
or a tragedy,
it doesn’t matter.
The story maker never becomes a stranger
and that is your consolation.
Say that a woman
refrained from greetings and standing up
because, for her, isolation was a greater trial
than loss or abandonment
and because her bones
housed her quiet.
Though she did go out on Sundays to dispel it,
hammering nails in Beit Sahour
for oakwood crucifixes.
