Would Stand So Close to Me
I write a poem when I feel
a tendril of Truth
brush against my face
and I weep to think that Truth
would stand so close to me

I'M SORRY.
I just wanted to say I’m sorry. I’m so, so sorry.
I deeply regret ever causing you any harm.
I think about you often, and with love.
If there’s anything I can do to make it right, I’m listening.
But please know — this apology comes with no strings…
You don’t have to respond,
you don’t owe me anything —
Not your forgiveness,
or your time,
or your energy.
I love you, and I honor
whatever path your healing takes.
